General Summary of Position Responsibility:

The Student Nurse Assistant (S.N.A.) works under the direction of a Registered Nurse to provide care for patients/families with acute and chronic diseases, disorders found in the pediatric and adolescent into the young adult populations. Actively supports the Hospital’s and the department’s quality goals and service excellence principles.

- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s Nursing Program (or higher) required.
- Completion of Nursing fundamentals course and first clinical rotation required.
- BLS certification through American Heart Association is required.
- Must currently be in and maintain good academic standing in program.

This position is responsible for providing age specific plan of care for patients using the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care. This role collaborates with physicians and other health team members in coordinating and implementing procedures and treatments and uses clinical judgment in coordinating patient care.

The Clinical Coordinator RN assumes departmental responsibility for oversight of activities of specific surgical specialty at all times. Develop and maintain relationships with physicians in related specialty area. Monitors performance and activities of nurses and technicians involved in specialty service cases. Ensures all equipment and supplies are available and in working order. The Clinical Coordinator RN is responsible for assisting with the oversight of daily operations of the Operating Room. The Clinical Coordinator RN is responsible for the development and coordination of activities that promote clinically effective and efficient patient care. Plans, organizes and directs patient care activities under the direction of the nurse manager. Collaborates with the nurse manager in maintaining unit operations, supervises assigned personnel and consults and collaborates with other health care team members to provide safe appropriate patient care. The Clinical Coordinator RN serves as a clinical leader in the Nursing Department to ensure that each patient receives quality, individualized care that is proactive and coordinated among the care delivery team and that the patient is attaining their clinical milestones and patient flow.

This position will assist in covering clinics at the Chicago Children's Advocacy Center as well as the CLK Deming location.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday – off Thursdays. 9 hour shifts
This position provides and coordinates care for children where allegations of sexual abuse, physical abuse, witness of violence, and other serious maltreatment exist. Under the general supervision of the Physician managing the Child Abuse Pediatrics Division, the nurse promotes and facilitates optimal care. To achieve this, the nurse collaborates with a diverse group of individuals including families, physicians, nurses, social work, child life, law enforcement, and others.
Schedule:
3 days one week and 4 days the other.

This position will specifically support the Comprehensive Sickle Cell and Thalassemia Programs, including education and longitudinal care coordination for complex patients who are managed at Lurie and outreach sites.
