The Research Financial Portfolio Manager is responsible for communicating accurate and timely financial data and providing financial advisement to principal investigators in the financial administration of grants, contracts clinical trials and other internally funded support. The Research Financial Portfolio Manager works closely with Research Support and Sponsored Program Offices counterparts and on behalf of their PIs in the development of budgets and spending plan projections to follow applicable sponsor regulations and requirements. The Heart Center Clinical Research Core Manager (HCRCM) provides leadership, strategic management, and administration for the clinical and translational research program of the Heart Center. The HCRCM supervises and manages the research staff in the Heart Center Research Core within the Stanley Manne Childrens Research Institutes Center for Cardiovascular Innovation. The Heart Center Research Core (HCRC) serves as the key operational interface between the funding agencies, industry partners, the clinical and translational research program within the Stanley Manne Childrens Research Institute at the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Childrens Hospital of Chicago, sponsored programs, research team and principal investigators. The HCRCM will be responsible for the management and oversight of pre-award and post-award activities and finances relating to sponsored research studies for the Heart Center in conjunction with the Office of Sponsored Programs. This includes preparing research budgets, contract negotiations and post-award management. The HCRCM will communicate accurate and timely financial and research data to principal investigators, sponsors and others. The HCRCM will provide proactive financial advice, planning and maintain a strong customer-service oriented environment and promotes employee satisfaction. The position will implement policies and standard operating procedures to ensure compliance with sponsor rules and regulations and generally accepted accounting and clinical research procedures. The HCRCM will work with minimum direction and guidance within a service-team environment. The HCRCM models and supports the principles of good clinical practice with the research team. The HCRCM will report to the Heart Center Administrative Director and the Director of Research and Academic Affairs.

This position is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the Lurie Childrens revenue capture system. The Hospitals annual revenue currently exceeds one billion dollars. Maintaining an accurate and legally compliant charge capture system is a challenging position and critical to the fiscal strength of the Hospital. More specifically, the focus of this position is to: 1. Establish an appropriate charge structure consistent with industry standards, local market conditions and Lurie Childrens contracts; 2. Maximize collections through the accurate and complete capture of all charges; 3. Vigilantly monitor charges for inaccurate and/or inappropriate postings; 4. Provide education of key revenue department managers and directors as to their roles and responsibilities in the revenue capture process; and 5. Support Lurie Childrens corporate compliance program by verifying that the charge master and charge usage is in compliance with all applicable regulatory guidelines and that Hospital staff adheres to approved charge posting policies and procedures.   The ideal candidate will have a clinical background, revenue integrity, or minimally coding or nursing background.
