Nurse Coordinator-Behavior and Development

The Behavioral and Development Nurse Coordinator , under the general supervision of the Physician managing the Behavioral and Development program coordinates the activities of the service which pertain to Behavioral and Development and Early Intervention.  The Nurse coordinator promotes and facilitates optimal care and works with a diverse group of individuals including families, physicians, nurses, Foundation Staff, Institutional Review Board, the Illinois Department of Public Health, the Illinois Department of Human Services, Child and Family Connections, and other hospital staff through clinical, adminstrative, professional, educational and quality improvement activities.

1. Coordinates the specific program activities which pertain to Behavioral and Development and Early Intervention including: Clinical, Education and Research.
2. Develops and manages databases.
3. Assists in preparation of IRB applications, reports and presentations.
4. Participates in the development, implementation and ongoing assessment of policies, procedures, and guidelines that define the care of the patients enrolled in the Behavioral and Development programs.
5. Establishes and maintains rapport and an effective working relationship among a group of diverse health care providers.
6. Acts as a liason between the program and community based organizations.
7. Acts as a resource to hospital personnel with regard to the care, coordination, and evaluation of patients in the Behavioral Development program.
8. Develops and provides education to new residents, physicians, ancillary health care workers, patients and families with regard to the Behavioral Development program and evaluation criteria.
9. Maintains current knowledge of care of the Behavioral Development Patients via literature and educational conferences. Fulfills duties per the Child and Family Connections contract.
10. Performs job functions adhering to the Service Principles with customer service focus of innovation, service excellence, and teamwork to provide the highest quality care and service to our patients, families, co-workers, and others.

1. A BSN degree from an accredited school of nursing and current licensure as a registered professional nurse in the State of Illinois Master's prepared preferred. 
2. Candidate must have 3-4 years of pediatric nursing with a minimum of 2 years research experience preferred
3. Experience working in partnership with health care professionals and support staff in a clinical setting is necessary.
4. Must demonstrate the ability to problem sove and support teamwork in multidisciplinary setting. Computer skills required.  The candidate must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
