We are seeking PhD postdoctoral scholars or applicants with engineering and/or materials science backgrounds,​ who are enthusiastic about utilizing their experience and knowledge to solve biological problems in the Laronda Lab at the Stanley Manne Children's Research Institute at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago and Northwestern University. The Laronda Lab aims to develop new modalities for restoring fertility and ovarian hormones in women and girls with premature ovarian failure.

This is a full time appointment to support training/research/associated career development activities.


  1. Involved in daily research and operations in basic and translational science lab.
  2. Contribute to project design, research protocol development, data analysis, authorship of resultant manuscripts.
  3. Applies for additional funding sources.
  4. Contribute to mentoring other trainees in the lab.
  5. Willingness and ability to learn some biology techniques (including aseptic technique and primary cell culture)
  6. Performs other duties as assigned.


  1. Education -- PhD in engineering or basic, scientific disciplines (possible areas of research include: bioengineering, materials science, physics, biomedical engineering, chemistry)
  2. Excellent written and oral communication skills
  3. Be able to work in a highly collaborative fast-paced environment
  4. Be able to successfully interact with diverse stakeholders including: clinicians, basic scientists, research administration.
