Research Tech I --- Coordinates with lab members to assist them with experiments and maintains mouse colonies. Performs experiments that are designed to clarify mechanisms of disease.
Prepares DNA and genotyping from samples and learns and manages mouse database software.
Prepares samples for immunohistochemistry, and subsequent analysis.
Develops, performs and assists investigators in their experiments. Attends weekly lab meetings.
Maintains records of facility use, assists in scheduling, billing, and other administrative activities.
Orders reagents to maintain inventory and performs routine cleaning and maintenance of instrumentation.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education/and or experience required. Mouse handling experience highly preferred.
Working knowledge of computers, ability to troubleshoot, work independently, and function as a team member is essential. Therefore, experience in regular interaction with outside groups is highly desirable.
Excellent command of the English language and the ability to communicate effectively is primary.
Strong organizational skills including the ability to establish priorities, react promptly to a large variety of requests, and the ability to keep the workplace clean and organized.
