  • Overview

    The Manager, Value Analysis RN will provide leadership by driving financial and operational results through the managing of clinical relationships with the Supply Chain Business unit. Oversees the daily operations of the Sourcing/Value Analysis process, meeting operational and fiscal objectives. Sourcing and Value Analysis oversight for designated service-line related projects and initiatives, which includes accountability for the quality of results and project sustainment. Serves as the subject matter expert on clinical service line supply chain projects. Structured project completion resulting in the availability of appropriate supplies, reduction of total supply expense, recommendations to decrease inventory, adhering to patient safety protocols, improved standardization/utilization, while assuring the patient is receiving care in the most clinically appropriate cost effective manner. Collaborates with and develops strong relationships across all levels of the organization including clinical staff, physicians, research support and administrative leadership to meet project deliverables, while fulfilling the service needs of the Children’s Hospital of Chicago Medical Center (“Medical Center”).

    Responsibilities

    1. Provides operational and clinical leadership, support and supervision to the Strategic sourcing/Value Analysis process, staff and functions within the Medical Center. Directs the activities related to daily operations, hiring, professional development, general competency, promotion, performance appraisal and disciplinary action of the staff.
    2. Provides overall management of the savings initiatives and analysis for all Sourcing initiatives and Value Analysis committees. Thoroughly vets all financial analysis prior to meetings, regularly participates in Steering Committee Meetings to provide updates on the process; prepares agendas/minutes/set-up for all committee meetings; leads Value Analysis meetings; ensures all applicable analysis and follow ups are complete prior to each meeting; completes post meeting follow up work to facilitate timely conversion of all approved products; owns Value Analysis SharePoint site to promote effective and readily available information to end users; and regularly provides status reports for executive management team. Additionally oversees key aspects of the conversion process in collaboration with other supply chain professionals taking ownership for ensuring initiatives are closed out.
    3. Develops professionals by holding regularly scheduled meetings to provide coaching and share information on changes in the industry and the impact of those changes in daily operations.
    4. Collaborates within the Medical Center’s by serving as a process expert concerning Sourcing and Value Analysis inquiries and serves as a team player in conversions and other product related initiatives.
    5. Actively leads and contributes to the goals of all multidisciplinary Value Analysis Committees, in the identification, evaluation and selection of products to promote standardization and cost savings for all supplies and equipment throughout the Medical Center.
    6. Actively assesses Value Analysis process and provides process improvement ideas as needed.
    7. Demonstrates proficiency in Material Management and Supply Chain knowledge.
    8. Other job functions as assigned.

    Qualifications

     

    1. Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, RN; MBA preferred.
    2. Required: Five years progressive work experience in Purchasing or Value Analysis. Healthcare experience required.
    3. Required: Experience with Group Purchasing Organizations.
    4. Required: Experience in planning, Value Analysis process flow, purchasing decision making and outcome evaluation.
    5. Required: Working knowledge of personal computers and Microsoft windows operating system and applications.
    6. Required: Excellent analytical, written and oral communication skills. Ability to articulate facts and ideas clearly and concisely. Demonstrated ability to analyze problems and clearly articulate potential solutions.
    7. Required: Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Capable of working in a diverse, multi-disciplinary team, group process facilitation, negotiation and conflict resolution while interacting with all levels of the organization.
    8. Required: Excellent facilitation and project management skills. Ability to manage assigned projects to specified budget and time line with minimal supervision. Must be able to prioritize, organize and assess work in order to meet aggressive deadlines and cope in fast-paced environment.
    9. Required: Ability to maintain a high level of integrity and confidentiality relating to patient health information (PHI) or Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
    10. Preferred: Proficiency in Infor-Lawson with an emphasis in Supply Chain business systems.
