General Summary of Position Responsibility:
Under the direction of a registered pharmacist, performs pharmacy-related functions in compliance with department policies and procedure, to provide optimal pharmaceutical care to patients. Prepares parenteral injections and admixtures after successful completion of Lurie Children’s pharmacy cleanroom training program. Prepares parenteral injections, cytotoxic agents and IV admixtures at least 50% of the scheduled shifts; or works at least 25% of the scheduled shifts per quarter (three months) in an IV cleanroom and successfully completes cleanroom competencies as required. Actively supports the hospital and department's continuous quality improvement and customer service goals individually and as an effective team member. Maintains certification from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or is currently enrolled in an accredited Doctor of Pharmacy program.
Essential Job Functions:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Education: High school diploma required or GED equivalent required. Completion of two years of college with at least one general mathematics course preferred.
Job Related Experience: One year of hospital or home infusion pharmacy experience required; OR minimum of six months of Lurie Children’s cleanroom experience with leadership assessment of competency.
Licensure: Licensure as Registered Pharmacy Technician in the State of Illinois.
Certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
