  • Overview

    General Summary of Position Responsibility:          


    Contributes to program development for the closed circuit television network that meets the needs of the patient families, Community Partners and donors. Coordinates the administrative responsibilities for Skylight TV.  Works with the Technical Director to enhance, maintain and upgrade existing broadcast infrastructure and assist in the maintenance of the equipment.


    Essential Job Functions: 

    1. Collaborates with team members across the continuum to produce high quality developmentally appropriate educational and entertaining programming relevant to the hospital audience. Identifies, assesses and responds to patient, family and staff needs; implements program for patient families based on these needs.
    2. Manages production schedule for live and pre-recorded shows on all Skylight TV channels.
    3. Develops relationships with donors and community partners in collaboration with appropriate team members. Responds to the video production and duplication needs of internal customers and special event guests in a timely manner.
    4. Maintains current knowledge, follows developing trends and innovations, and seeks out education to promote program advancement regarding broadcasting, video and radio production.
    5. Maintains appropriate archives and records of Skylight TV production materials and resources. Orders and maintains materials for program and service needs.
    6. Communicates with members of the health care team, through formal and informal means of transmitting information.   Communicates through both conveying and responding to pertinent information.
    7. Advocates for and addresses the psychosocial/spiritual/developmental/cultural needs of the child and family throughout the continuum of care.
    8. Participates in the team’s group problem-solving and program planning.  
    9. Establishes annual goals and effectively works to meet these goals. Assumes responsibility for professional development through participation in seminars, course work and/or hospital educational programs.
    10. Develops and implements plan for necessary professional credentials and maintenance of such credentials.
    11. Provides orientation, training, supervision and feedback to assigned volunteers. Collaborates with Technical Director to train and mentor students, interns and colleagues, as appropriate.
    12. Performs job functions adhering to service principles with customer service focus innovation, service excellence and teamwork to provide the highest quality care and service to our patients, families, co-workers and others.


    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

    1. Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field with emphasis in video and/or film production required. Master’s degree preferred.
    2. Minimum of three years of experience in film and video production. IPTV experience preferred.
    3. Demonstrated experience with editing, graphic and animation creation (specifically Adobe Creative Suite) and sound design.
    4. Sensitivity to and knowledge of children’s and family’s reaction to the health care environment, and demonstrates skills in working with children and families.
    5. Ability to think proactively, act creatively, make good judgment and take initiative appropriately.
    6. Ability to communicate effectively, work as a member of a team and adapt to the changing health care environment essential.
    7. Spanish language abilities strongly preferred.
