In close collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer, Chief Nursing Officer, and Medical Director(s), Center for Quality and Safety, develops, implements, and leads Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago’s Center for Quality and Safety, including the Center’s Quality Improvement, Patient Safety, Evidence-Informed Practice, Clinical Informatics, and Clinical Decision Support (CDS) programs. Works in close collaboration with medical staff and hospital leaders, Legal and Risk Management, Information Management, and Data Analytics and Reporting to foster improvements in care through quality improvement and safety, evidence-informed practice, utilization of the electronic health record (EHR) and clinical analytics. Shows expertise in the use of formal quality improvement methodologies and technology to improve the quality, safety and efficiency of care delivery processes and outcomes, and the use of data to drive improvement. Demonstrates expertise to improving the safe delivery of care, through the elimination of serious patient harm, identification, analysis, and mitigation of medical errors, and incorporating elements of high reliability organization theory and safety culture into the design of health care delivery systems. Demonstrates and shows commitment to consistently learning from all available evidence and data to provide high quality, safe and efficient care as a health learning system and high reliability organization. Provides leadership to marshal resources and guide successful implementation of improvements in clinical information systems to support improved clinical outcomes. Understands patient care, human factors and improvement methodologies, and is responsible for strategies that result in the effective design, development, and implementation of CDS.
