Overview

Seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to join Dr. Loretta Li’s laboratory at Lurie Children’s Hospital / Northwestern University. We are a newly established translational leukemia research laboratory that uses a variety of biochemical, molecular, and cell biology approaches to identify new therapeutic targets, develop preclinical models of disease, and test novel therapeutics both in vitro and in vivo using mouse models. The successful candidate will be a team player capable of handling multiple tasks and adaptable to a fast-paced research environment.

Responsibilities

 

The postdoctoral fellow will carry out an independent research project under the supervision of the principal investigator, Dr. Loretta Li. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Designing and conducting laboratory experiments to advance the research progress in the lab.
  • Skilled handling of mice as needed to meet project goals.
  • Analyzing data and troubleshooting experiments as needed.
  • Maintaining detailed records of their laboratory work, results, and data analyses.
  • Preparing presentations for lab meetings, journal clubs, research seminars, and research conferences.
  • Synthesizing data and generating figures for grants, manuscripts, and presentations at the local, national, and international level.
  • Working with the principal investigator to write grant proposals and progress reports related to the research project.
  • Supervision and training of students and technicians in the lab.
  • Sharing in the responsibilities of routine laboratory maintenance.

Qualifications

1. A level of knowledge normally acquired through the completion of a Ph.D. or M.D.

2. Possess an excellent command of the English language; medical and scientific terminology is required.

3. Organizational skills: Ability to establish priorities and react promptly to a large variety of requests and needs, sometimes in stressful situations.
